Full Description

Farmstead, depicted on historic OS maps. The 1st edition shows a roughly L-plan steading forming two sides of a court, with rectangular buildings to the east and south. By the time of the 2nd edition the east end of the south range had been removed, as had part of the building to the east. The building south of the range had been altered and new buildings added to the southeast and to the west of the steading range. To the south of the farm buildings is a saw mill, subsequently removed. Current maps also show that the east steading range has also been removed, as have the smaller buildings to the west. The buildings to the east and south are shown as disused and a later L-plan house has been added to the east. Standing building survey of the remaining farm buildings was carried out in 2014 prior to proposed demolition. The former steading was built of large faced granite blocks with cherry cocking. The interior has been partly modernised but the original waterwashed beach pebble floor remained.
