Full Description

A 2-span road bridge with cast-iron arches each of two ribs, on masonry piers and supporting a wooden deck. The spandrels are arcaded, with granite approaches and centre pier of distinct outline. Built by the railway company, designed by engineer John Willett. It bears inscription James Abernethy and Co, Ferryhill Foundry, Aberdeen 1854. The toll to cross was not abolished until 1962.
