Full Description

Remains of a minor depopulated settlement, un-named, in the form of grass-covered footings of three longhouses, an enclosure and a corn-drying kiln. It is not depicted on the 1st or 2nd edition OS map, but is shown as ruins on the current edition (2006). The northern building, of three compartments, measures 25 m by 6 m externally, with grass covered walls 0.6 m wide and up to 0.5 m high. A secondary wall runs northwest for circa 5 m from the southwest angle of this building, its continuation obscured by a clearance cairn circa 5 m in diameter. To the southwest are the remains of a second building, measuring 19 m by 7 m externally. Some 25 m to the southwest, at NJ16641514, are the remains of a corn drying kiln, circular with an external diameter of 5 m. Further southwest, at NJ16611506, are the remains of a three-compartment longhouse measuring 28 m by 5 m externally, with a poorly defined enclosure, measuring circa 8 m by 4 m, to the east.
