Full Description

Mill built in 1844. A rectangular 2 storey building with central kiln, originally with a start and awe wheel. An unusual survival identified here in 1976 was an early threshing machine, by Ben Reid (Bon-Accord Works, Aberdeen), which was located in a single-storeyed wing. Originally one of four mills built to grind corn in the parish, the Mill of Auchriachan was the last to survive intact. After suffering fire damage in the 1890s, production at the mill came to a temporary halt during World War I, before ceasing completely in World War II. It is depicted on both the 1st and 2nd edition OS maps, and the original buildings appear to survive.
