Full Description

Former manse, still in residential use, and a steading, still in use. The manse was built by John and William Smith in 1844, incorporating an older manse, and the steading was built at the same date. It is a two-storey harled house with margins and dormerheads. There is an advanced gable to one side of the front with a shallow three-light rectangular bay, a two-light window above and an attic slit. A porch is in the re-entrant angle, and there are splayed angles, a four centre arched doorpiece, an ashlar parpet and a two-light window with a gablet dormerhead above. A three light window on the other side of the front matches the two-light dormer above. The flank is two-window with similar dormerheads, and there is a blind one-window gable. The rear is L-plan and stepped with a piended stairhall in the angle. The front chimneys have diagonal shafts corbelled to square at the top abd there are slated roofs that have coped skews with ball and spike finials. The front and flank elevations have small-paned mullion and transom crosses. The detached steading is rubble-built and slated.
