Full Description
Remains of a mill, dating to the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is a rectangular rubble building with a circular kiln vent with a pig vane, and contains the remains of a low-breast wheel. It is depicted on the 1st edition OS map as a corn and saw mill. A long lade leads from the north. This lade also feeds a waukmill which stood at NO 7278 7726, just north of Cairnton Cottages. By the 2nd edition OS map the waukmill had gone, and a millpond is depicted just north of the cornmill. This pond is no longer depicted.
