Full Description
A WELL PRESERVED NORTH-SOUTH ALIGNED ROW OF ANTI-TANK BLOCKS. AROUND 90 BLOCKS FORM THIS GROUP BUT SOME BLOCKS ARE STILL BURIED IN THE SAND. THE SOUTHERNMOST BLOCKS ARE BETTER PRESERVED. THE NORTHERN ONES HAVE FLATTENED TOPS AND ARE OF A MUCH SMOOTHER CONCRETE. AT LEAST ONE BLOCK HAD GRAFFITI MARKS. LOCAL INFORMATION SUGGESTS THAT THE BLOCKS HAVE RECENTLY BEEN EXPOSED AFTER BEING BURIED FOR MANY YEARS. Recorded during coastal zone assessment survey carried out by SCAPE between February and March 2009. This area was one of the vulnerable exits from the beach that were blocked by a combination of barbed wire and concrete cubs (reinforced by beach scaffolding in 1941) and covered by machine gun positions shown on Polish Army maps.
