Full Description

Remains of anti-invasion defences. A double line of anti-tank blocks run along the southern bank of the River South Esk, to the north-east of Kinnaber. An aerial photograph indicates that by 1942 cubes at the mouth of the river had been damaged by the sea and replaced by five rows of dragon's teeth cutting across the links. This repair work was probably the work of the Polish Army. More recent aerial photography shows that many of the blocks have now been removed, possibly due to river bank erosion at NO 7359 6218. Many of these removed blocks have been stored to the south of the line. A pill-box is also recorded at NO734622. Recorded during coastal zone assessment survey carried out by SCAPE between February and March 2009. Some of the blocks have fallen into the estuary.
