Full Description

Farmstead, with farmhouse built on site of earlier manor house. The farmhouse was originally a 2-storey, 3-windows gabled rectangular building with straight skews and end stacks, and the roof swept down over a single storey overshot at the back. It has a broad front single storey and attic addition, dated circa 1830, in an L-plan arrangement, overlaying the right hand two bays of the original front elevation. The addition has a doorway with a rectangular fanlight and one window on flank, centre window and small attic window at gable, straight skews and a tall gable stack. The building is harled, with no margins, and features a slated roof. The windows are all 12-pane sash and case, except the gable window of the later wing which has been re-glazed. The old garden walls are linked to the house at the back. The farmstead to the north is depicted on the 1st edition OS map as rectangular with a central open court. To its north is a single rectangular building with attached enclosure to the south. By the 2nd edition map this building has gone, the farmstead is still rectangular but the internal courtyard has been reduced with the introduction of another building on the northern side. On the current edition map it is shown with a similar layout, with an entrance in the west side. Building recording of the steading was carried out in 2014.
