Full Description

Remains of wooden posts recorded during SCAPE Community Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (CCZAS) in June 2022. They are most likely the remains of groynes. Five sites were recorded: Site 1 - two wooden posts, circa 20 cm in diameter, at a 45 degree angle in the sand. Site 2- eight wooden posts, the largest circa 1.75 m tall, 20 cm diameter and the shortest circa 30-40 cm tall. Two are protruding from sand at angle. Site 3 - three wooden posts, the largest of which is furthest inland and 1.9 m tall. Two shorter stumps seaward which are 15-25 cm tall. Site 4: a single small wooden stump approx. 10-15 cm diameter, 35 cm tall. Site 5 - two wooden posts, the seaward one circa 1.15 m tall, diameter 10-15 cm and the landward post circa 70 cm tall and of similar diameter.
