Full Description
Pier and slipway depicted on historic OS maps. Annotated as Pier on the 1st edition but Old Pier on the 2nd suggesting it was disused at that time. Site visit in 2022 as part of the SCAPE Coastal Zone Assessment Survey recorded that the pier has now been removed. The survey also recorded a revetment wall in the coast edge at the site of the pier, constructed of sandstone and now in poor condition. Deposits behind the wall comprise bedrock, raised beach, subsoil and a coal- rich upper horizon.
