Full Description

Former chapel, built in 1851 and gifted to Benholm Parish Church by Hercules Scott of Brotherton Castle. The church closed in 1947 and sometime later used by a local boat building company as a workshop. In March 2011 the building was gutted by fire which left it as a roofless shell. A photographic survey was carried out in 2013 prior to conversion to residential use and a workshop. It is of rectangular plan, built of rubble stones rendered, with a gabled porch at the southwest end. The west gable has two round-arched windows and a tall open bellcote with a single bell. The south wall has had a large rectangular doorway cut into it at a later stage. The interior was stripped of fittings and furnishing when it became a boat builder's workshop and any surviving features were destroyed in the 2011 fire.

Period Notes
Gutted by fire 2011.
