Full Description

Unusual, multi-gabled, villa, formerly used as a hotel and now in use as a guest house, built in the late 19th century with later alterations and additions in circa 1920. Shown on the OS 2nd edition map as The Villa, with a flagstaff in the southeast corner. The property is asymmetrical in plan and elevation, with a mix of single-storey, 2-storey and attic, and 2-storeys, harled, painted and with imitation timber-framing. The east frontage has a Tudor arched gateway with wrought-iron gates, large 2-leaf panelled doors and two canted oriel windows at the first floor. A single-storey and attic section is to the left, with a veranda and jettied gable to the outer left. Windows are timber sash and case and plate glass. The slated roofs have harled ridge stacks, with the roofs to the south having scalloped and diamond tiles laid in patterned courses. Timber 'stake' boundary walls are to the east, south and west. The 2-storey section to the north was probably added circa 1920 when it became a hotel.

Period Notes
Built late 19th century with additions circa 1920. Listed 30/03/1999
