Full Description

Classical house, built in the late 19th century and shown on the OS 2nd edition map as a United Free Church manse. Two-storey and attic, 3-bay, pale ashlar to the front, red sandstone squared and coursed to the sides and rear, with a base course, a ground floor cill course, an eaves band course, raised and architraved margins. A 2-step flight leads to a central pilastered, round-arched doorpiece with an entablatured, keystoned dentil cornice, a plain fanlight and 2-leaf, 3-panel doors. A window with a bracketed cill is centred above at the first floor, with a small round-arched dormer above. Windows are predominantly 4-pane timber sash and case. The slated piended roof has intricate cast-iron brattishing to the central platform, shouldered and corniced ashlar stacks to the north and south, with a full complement of square-section cans. A low, coped ashlar boundary wall is to the front, coped rubble boundary walls are to the rear, with capped gatepiers and a screening wall to the side of the passage to the south.
