Full Description

Close, adjacent to No. 25 High Street, running between High Street and the junction of Market Street and John Street. It follows along the line of an original rigg and has never been surfaced, apart from some ad hoc tarmac at the western end. The buildings to the south are at least as old as 1818. A watching brief was carried out in March 2008 by SUAT during the removal of the ground surface prior to resurfacing. Nothing of archaeological significance was found. The ground below the path had been previously disturbed during the laying of services.
