Full Description
Remains of beacon light on south side of harbour entrance. It is a sharply tapering rubble-built beacon from the 18th century. It is whitewashed, and is circa 4 metres (13 feet) high. There is some evidence of erosion on its Northern side. It is the taller of the two beacons on Scurdie Ness, the other being circa 250 metres to the West (NO75NW0057). It was recorded during the coastal zone assessment survey carried out by SCAPE between February and March 2009. A possible carved stone close to the beacon reported in 2024 was concluded to be natural in origin.
