Full Description
Upstanding remains of a burial ground, and the site of a chapel dedicated to St Mary. It is made up of a small enclosure circa 6 metres (20 feet) across with a thick wall circa 2 metres (7 feet) high, with an entrance in the South-West elevation. In 1882, it was recorded as being the burial ground for the Scotts and Lennys of the district. There are internal mural memorial plaques, including a mural monument with fluted pilasters, a carved frieze and a dentilled cornice, which is surmounted by a sculptured armorial stone that is dated 1737. There is no remaining structural evidence of the original chapel. The site was recorded during the coastal zone assessment survey carried out by SCAPE between February and March 2009. At this time, no headstones or obvious graves or boundary walls were located. Visit to the chapel site in 2014 noted that the edge of the graveyard was collapsing down to the beach, revealing a large number of loose finds, mostly 19th century pottery: this was possibly the site of a derelict building.

There is a mural armorial dated 1737. It was listed on 11/06/1971.
