Full Description

Remains of a fishing station depicted on historic OS maps. First shown on the 2nd edition map as two small buildings a short distance above the high water mark. Mid 20th century maps show three buildings, these at a location slightly further south. Only remains of one building still stand. Site visit during Moray Community Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (CCZAS) in June 2022 recorded the remains, then comprising the concrete foundations of a building or platform, measuring 7 m by 5 m. There is an entrance on the east site, and internally two rooms divided by a concrete strip. Local information suggested this to be remains of the Mid Bothy, abandoned circa 25 years previously due to erosion of the coast. The walls and chimney were removed when the building was abandoned.
