Full Description
Farmstead, still in use, depicted on historic OS maps. It is shown on the 1st edition OS map as an E-plan steading with two L-plan buildings to the south and a rectangular-plan pond to the north. On the 2nd edition OS map the court of the steading has been partially covered, there are additions to both the buildings to the south and another L-plan building added to the east. Current OS maps show further minor alterations to the steading and two buildings to the south, and the building to the east has been removed. The pond appears infilled, with the area now wooded. A Level 2 Standing Building Survey was carried out on the steading in October 2017 prior to proposed conversion to residential. The farm has existed since at least the 18th century, with mention of it from 1799. A possible former stable, cart bays and building of other agricultural uses were identified, as well as a former threshing mill with a grain loft. The mill would have originally been water-powered, and retains a seed dressing machine that appears to be a 1961 model.
