Full Description
Remains of longhouse/farmstead. Part of a farmstead with house which has five compartments and is overlain by later structure, also reduced to wall footings. To the SW, over a deeply worn track, are traces of field dykes of both turf and stone which enclose rig and furrow. The farmstead was abandoned before 1864, but is depicted as 'Old Town' on estate plans of 1789 and 1807, when the track was described as the 'Road to the Moss of Fettercairn'. Nothing is shown at this location on either the OS 1st or 2nd edition maps.
