Full Description

A concrete battle HQ, dating from World War II, which originally stood outside the airfield perimeter (now within the security perimeter of the airfield). Constructed of reinforced concrete, it incorporated a viewing platform with a chambers below. The upper viewing platform had a slit all around for visual observation. Immediately to the northeast is a metal plate of an access shaft to the three underground rooms. About 6.35m northeast of the upper platform is another metal plate, the main entrance via a steep flight of stairs. Both entrances are sealed. Other trenches and sangers and a machine gun position in the vicinity are related to the HQ and once formed part of the airfield defences system.
