Full Description

Remains of mill and site of a cottage depicted on the OS 1st edition map which shows a rectangular building with small mill pond to the west, and a cottage and garden to the north. The mill building is shown as unroofed on the OS 2nd edition map. Standing building survey of the mill was carried out by Cameron Archaeology in December 2018. The mill building is constructed of field stones, the east wall surviving to circa 3m high whilst much of the west wall was reduced to ground level. The south gable wall contains two upper window and a circular aperture for the drive shaft of the waterwheel. The wheel pit has been infilled.
