Full Description

Former school, most recently in use as a community centre, built in 1875 with later additions and alterations. It is first shown on the 2nd edition OS map as a T-plan building with a projection to the north and four associated rectangular buildings within the enclosure, and is depicted as a school. Current OS maps show an addition to the north, and three of the associated buildings have been removed and it is named Damacre Centre. A Level 1 Standing Building Survey was carried out by Angus Council in January and February 2018 prior to proposed demolition. Four phases of building were identified. With the T-plan section being the original 1875 building, which was extended to the south in 1887. The third and fourth phases added smaller extensions to the south, north-east and west.
