Full Description
War memorial standing in Victoria Public Park. A sandstone ashlar masonry column, with chamfered corners, with rectangular base, stands on a rectangular plinth. It was designed by Wright and Wrigley of Wakefield and is constructed of stone from the local Ardovie Quarry. A plaque on the base records lives list in the First World War, that on the plinth list those lost in the Second World War. The whole structure is set on a raised platform, enclosed by a wall interupted by a flight of steps on the south side. There has been some chipping and erosion damage to the sandstone. Full transcription of memorial held in AAS Digital Archive.
