Full Description
A World War II pill-box stands on the east side of Findhorn Bay beside an open land drain opposite the Stable Inn. It is a eight-sided structure of red brick with a blast lobby at its entrance in the north side, with steps leading down to it. The outer walls are circa 45cm thick with the internal wall around the central gun-pit circa 34cm thick. The gun pit has three small steps leading down to it. The roof, which is concrete, is circa 50cm thick. There is a metal-framed loop-hole in the centre of seven of the sides with fittings for shelving underneath each, though only one shelf now remains On the wall of the entrance is another similar loophole accessed from the blast lobby. The structure is still in reasonable condition, although the interior floods occasionally and there are a number of bushes and young trees growing in the central gun-pit, which is open.
