Full Description

Railway viaduct, still in use. Opened circa 1849 by the Aberdeen Railway, and rebuilt circa 1880. It is a 13-span viaduct with steel trusses on stone piers. Originally the spans were of timber, and the cast-iron sockets for these can be seen in the piers. It carried the Kinnaber Junction to Aberdeen main line of the former Caledonian Railway across the River North Esk. The river also forms the boundary between the parishes of Logie Pert (Angus) and Marykirk (Kincardineshire). See also NO66NE0024 in Aberdeenshire HER.
