Full Description

Smithy and associated buildings, still in use as such when visited by Hume in 1974 but now probably residential. It is an early 19th century, single-storey, three-bay red sandstone rubble building with a lower three-bay extension. The 1st edition OS map shows an associated L-plan building, now named Smithy House, which has been extended on the 2nd edition OS map and two smaller outbuildings added. An additional modern rectangular building has since been added, and a small modern extension added to the east elevation of the smithy building.

The smithy was built in the early-19th century and has a modern extension. There are 19th century and modern associated buildings. Listed on 11/06/1971.
