Full Description

Farmstead and site of a horsemill. On the 1st edition OS map it is shown as a quadrangular steading with central court, an extension at the north-east corner and a horsemill at the northwest corner. To the west are two small buildings, with another to the east of the steading and a further small building to the south, close to the farmhouse and garden. By the 2nd edition OS map the small building to the east of the steading has been removed and the steading has been roofed and further extended. The 2006 map shows that the horsemill and part of the steading have been removed, the steading to the northeast is still roofed, but the western portion and the buildings to the west are disused. The smaller buildings to the west and the farmhouse have also been modified. The horsemill was photographed by Hume in the 1970s and described as early 19th century, being 'a circular rubble structure with a slate roof'. The farm buildings, now unused, are all single storey, one of the buildings partially collapsed. One building, now roofless, is of stone construction, three comprise concrete panels, and corrugated metal roofs.
