Full Description

Re-used masonry, recorded during visit by AAS in 2003. Two heraldic panels, one dated 1607, are inserted into a gable end above a doorway in the farm buildings at Bonnyton. There are also three ornamental skew-putts. These are most likely to have come from the nearby castle of Bonnyton which stood slightly to the west. It was believed to have been built circa 1607. Additional reused medieval/post-medieval sculptures built into the southeast corner of the barn at Bonnyton farm have also been reported (2012), believed to have come from the castle or dovecote. They include a stylised animal head as a skewputt and an inscribed stone bearing the letters IHS.
