Full Description

The former Bank of Scotland, built by the late 19th century, on the corner of High Street and Commerce Street, fronting onto both, with a corner entrance. It is a three-storey structure in Renaissance design by Peddie and Kinnear, with a bracketed main cornice. The building is constructed of ashlar with a slate roof and arched ground floor windows. The first floor has cornices over the outer windows and a three-light centre window with a segmental pediment and a tympanum carved with foliage and a rosette. Reported datestone (1971) being inscribed 'P. K. 1865'.
