Full Description
Remains of a mill, built 1719, extended in 1864 and abandoned in 1960. It is a 2-storey rubble building on an L-plan, with a wooden lean-to shed on the south side. There is the skeleton of an 8-spoke overshot wheel about 3ft wide by 12ft diameter (0.91 by 3.66m) with cast-iron hubs and ring, and wooden spokes, axles and buckets. At a higher level is a bow-fronted detached kiln, with a lean-to shelter for the firehole. There is a lintel dated 1719 and superscribed 1864. Workings complete and in use until late 20th century. A level 2 Standing Building Survey was carried out over this building by AOC in August 2010, prior to renovation and conversion to form a domestic dwelling. The building is recorded as being a ruin in very poor condition, with some of the roof missing, but the remains of the water wheel and mechanism still survive.
