Full Description

Remains of three hut-circles recorded by field survey in 1980 and 1999. Earlier survey identified remains of a stone-walled hut at NO52819053 with walls mutilated and spread to circa 3 m in width, with no evident entrance. It lies within a triangular area defined by tracks, and is circa 15 m in diameter. Pre-afforestation survey by Headland Archaeology in 1999 also recorded two more hut circles to the northwest comprising low grass-covered rings 10m in diameter. There are the remains of at least 12 field clearance cairns in the area but any trace of contemporary fields have been destroyed by modern cultivation.
