Full Description
Well depicted on the OS 1st and 2nd edition maps. The OS Name Book (1865) noted that Lady's Well had borne its name for more than a century. It is said that the lady of the castle (NO59NW0005) often visited the well, the water of which was beneficial to her health, hence the name. A natural spring, now overgrown with vegetation, is lined with rough stones to form a rectangular 'trough'. The northeast end is covered by a flat slab.
