Full Description
Settlement of Kincardine O'Neil, begun by St Erchan, is Deeside's oldest settlement. The development of Kincardine O'Neil was due to its location at the crossings of the River Dee and its alignment with the Old Deeside Road. The 1st edition OS map shows two schools (NO59NE0077, NO59NE01240 a post office, church (NO59NE0079), remains of earlier church (NO59NE0001), manse (NO59NE0125) and hotel. There had been some expansion by the time of the 2nd edition map with the addition of an episcopal church (NO59NE0104), parsonage (NO59NE0105), public hall and a new school.
