Full Description
Farmstead and C-listed farmhouse, still in use. The farmhouse was built in circa 1840. It is shown on the 1st edition OS map as a quadrangular steading with a narrow opening in the south range. There is a rectangular pond to the north of the steading. To the east there is an L-plan building, there are and two rectangular buildings to the south. Further to the south is a T-plan farmhouse with garden enclosure. On the 2nd edition OS map the steading has the court filled. The rectangular building to the east has been extended to Z-plan, and the larger rectangular building to the south has been extended to L-plan. There is an additional rectangular building and well to the east of the farmhouse. Current maps show the pond has been infilled and built over, the two buildings to the south of the steading have been removed and the Z-plan building to the east reduced in size. The building and well to the east of the farmhouse has also been removed. The rubble-built farmhouse is two-storey and three-bay, with an anta (pilastered) doorpiece. There is a lean-to addition presenting a screen wall to the front. Bee-boles of circa 18th century date in the wall of an outbuilding.
Period Notes
The farmhouse was built in circa 1840, and there are later 19th century alterations to the steading. The farmhouse was listed on 15/01/1980.
