Full Description

Remains of a dovecote. It is of the rectangular lean-to type, with a double chamber. It is constructed of harled rubble and slate, with crowstepped flanks. There is a lintel dated 1672. The dovecote is sited upon a small island within an artificial pond or moat, used as a curling pond (MAB37332). It is to the West of Careston Castle (MAB36674) and is within the associated designed landscape (MAB36708).
