Full Description

Lodge built circa 1870. A single-storey with attic, 2-bay, mid Victorian Tudor lodge gate house at the entrance to Bearhill (NO56SE0115), constructed of stugged coursers with flush margins. The southeast elevation has two bipartite windows and an attic slit window in the projecting gable. The northeast elevation has a three light canted bay window with an attic slit window above in the projecting gable, a porch with a blocking course in the re-entrant angle and a bipartite window to the north. The straight skew-gabled slated roof, has wallhead gablets, skewputts with ball finials and two tall paired square-shafted chimney stacks. There is a modern harled lean-to roofed addition with conservatory to the west. To the east of the house, the main gateway is flanked by foot gates, with octagonal ashlar capped gatepiers and serpentine curved low wing walls with original cast-iron gates and railings. The high boundary wall to the south west is capped rubble with a boarded door with lintel and ashlar dressings.
