Full Description
Gate lodge dating from circa 1806. Also known as the West Lodge, forming a west entrance gateway for Brechin Castle (NO55NE0040). A pair of symmetrical single storey ashlar lodges, in a mix of gothic and classical styles, with round headed windows in arches, a corbel table and a crenellated parapet. They flank tall square capped central gatepiers, with side arches and a continued crenellated parapet. From the lodges are curved flank walls with railings to smaller square capped gatepiers at the terminals to the north east and north west by the roadside. West of the Brechin Castle Lodge and gateway (NO56SE0152) and east of the Old Gatepiers (NO56SE0063).
