Full Description

Dovecot, no longer in use, probably built in circa 1600. It is shown on the 1st edition OS map as a square-plan dovecot with compartments at an angle to the north and north-west. On the 2nd edition OS map, the compartment to the north-west has been removed, and another compartment added to the east. Current maps show the compartments have been mostly removed. It is a rubble-built, white-washed dovecot with turrets at diagonally opposite angles and crowstepped gables on the roof, which is now swept. There is a doorway on the west elevation surmounted by a panel and continuous rat course moulding. The later compartment to the north is in ruins. The roof is in a poor condition.

Period Notes
Built in circa 1600, with 19th century additions and alterations. Listed on 11/06/1971.
