Full Description
Designed landscape around Guthrie Castle (NO55SE0049), with features including the east gateway (NO55SE0050), a former manse (NO 56627 50473), a sundial (NO55SE0026), a walled garden with a B-listed gateway (NO 56238 50571), steading and gasometer (NO 56345 50549), a pond (NO 56050 50430) with a boathouse (NO 56080 50460), an icehouse (NO55SE0051), a former quarry (NO 55919 50358), the west lodge (NO44SE0052) and gateway (NO55SE0045). The area to the south of the castle (NO 56164 50315) is currently in use as a golf course.
Period Notes
The castle was first built as a tower house in 1468 with 18th and 19th century additions and alterations. Most other features within the landscape are 18th or 19th century.
