Full Description

Walled garden built 1802. Originally constructed in a quatrefoil plan, with rubble walls about 14 foot high faced internally with narrow ashlar, as well as with fruit tree walls. An additional fifth lobe with a lower wall added in the late 19th century, creating an unusual cinquefoil plan. The entrance is a fine scalloped doorway. Behind the vine house to the north west side is a 2-storey simple classic gardeners house, built 1802, with rusticated quoins and a parapet on the south elevation. The walled garden contains a 17th century sundial (NO55NE0104), a 19th century sundial (NO55NE0105) and a 19th century fountain (NO55NE0103). Set within the designed landscape (NO55NE0005) around Brechin Castle (NO55NE0040).
