Full Description
Bridge designed James Burn in 1807. Three-span girder bridge with timber decking, built on cutwater islands of V-jointed ashlar with rubble piers above, which are niched with statuettes. The original timber arches (corbels remain) with trellis-work balustrades were replaced by cast-ironwork in circa 1890. The bridge crosses the River South Esk, set within the designed landscape (NO55NE0005) around Brechin Castle (NO55NE0040).
