Full Description
Former works now converted to housing. It is a one and two-storey red-brick building with voussoirs and herringbone banding in white brick. According to the parish entry in the NSA (1845) Friockheim was heavily involved in the textiles industries from the early 19th century onwards, although this structure in all probability dates to the late 19th century. Documentary research was carried out by J Gilliatt. Following destruction of an earlier premises in Millgate (although the location of this is not clear), a new bobbin manufactory was built here in 1893 by Messrs Edward and Paterson, supplying the Dundee flax and Jute Mills. Only two years later was put up for sale. Nothing further is known about this mill.
