Remains of a corn mill with dam and lade to the west.

Remains of a corn mill with dam and lade to the west. It was a single-storey and loft mill, harled, with kiln having vent with outstretched arm and hand vane. The workings are disused but fairly entire. There is an under-shot 'start and awe' wheel with a single row of iron spokes. The mill probably dates from circa 1830, the wheel later. The 1st edition map shows a rectangular building. By the time of the 2nd edition map a T-plan structure had been added to the east. Current maps indicate that both buildings remain in use. The pond remains but the lade appears to have been infilled. Site visit 2004 (Glen Tanar survey) noted that the mill lade is no longer visible as a surface feature at the dam or between the dam and where it currently emerges from a culvert near the mill. At the mill it runs along an aqueduct into the outshot at the mill containing the wheel.
