Full Description
Remains of a school and schoolhouse, shown as ruinous on the OS maps from the 1st edition map onwards. Once tenanted by the poet Alexander Ross (1699-1784). In 1853 it was a roofless ruin, the west window was built up, but a doorway, the hearth of the east or school-room end and the garden behind the house were still in existence. By the time of the visit of the OS in 1967 the remains were reduced to low rectangular footings, 13.0 m x 4.5 m. The walled garden still remained.
