Full Description
Drill Hall, built in the early 20th century, and in use during the First World War. The hall appears on the OS 6 inch map published 1927. It is a detached building with arched lower floor windows, a projection for stairs at the rear and a small hall. There were two drill halls in Forfar in 1914 (see also NO45SE0183) and it is not clear which units were based at each in 1914: 'D' Squadron, Fife and Forfar Yeomanry and 'B' Squadron, 5th battalion Black Watch were based in one of the halls, as was 'D' Company, Highland Cyclist Battalion. The original building has been joined by cadet huts and the complex is still in military use as a Territorial Army and ATC centre.
