Full Description
Former farmstead still in use as a plant nursery. 'Moorknowes' is shown on Thomson's map of 1820. The farmstead is shown on the 1st edition OS map of 1865 as two T-shaped buildings and a rectangular building, with a square formal garden to the west and L-shaped pond with sluice to the south. On the 2nd edition map of 1903 the garden no longer shows the formal arrangement and the larger of the two T-shaped buildings has been extended to the south-east, absorbing the rectangular building. A small building is shown to the south-east of the pond and another to the south of the former formal garden. The 2006 map shows that the large T-shaped building has had the extension, including the rectangular building, removed. The site of the pond is now occupied by a large modern building. Now named Little Mill.
