Full Description

Farmstead still in use. On the 1st edition OS map it is shown as a modified L-shaped steading, which has a horse-mill and extension at the north, an extension to the west and an extension to the south which creates the third wall of a court open to the south and south-east. To the south-east are two small rectangular buildings. To the south is a large enclosure with a small square building attached at the south-west corner. To the west is a smaller enclosure, possibly with a pond within it, and another small square building is attached to the north. By the 2nd edition OS map all of the buildings have been extended except the small square building to the south. There are additional buildings to the west of the steading and another within the court. Another horse-mill is shown to the east, probably an unroofed one. The 2006 map shows that the roofed over steading and the two small rectangular buildings to the south-east are still in use in modified condition. The enclosure to the south has been reduced in size. The pond has been removed, but its site has not been redeveloped. A 1966 survey of Scottish windmills notes that the remains of a circular windmill of probable 19th century date were incorporated into the then disused threshing mill.
