Full Description

Monifieth Parish War Memorial, designed by Charles G Soutar of Dundee and unveiled on 25 June 1922 by the Earl of Strathmore. It is in the form of an Art Deco-style square-plan grey granite monolith on a stepped back dais. Inset at the top of the monolith is a large angel warrior figure holding a sword and laurel wreath (possibly of bronze). The names of those from the parish who were killed in World War I are inscribed in the main body of the monolith, while those who died in World War II are inset round the base of the monument in black. A full transcription of the memorial is held in the AAS Digital Archive.
