Full Description

Farmstead, still in use, depicted on the first edition OS 1st edition and 2nd edition maps as a C-plan steading with courtyard and entrance to the southeast, with two additional buildings to the southeast. The steading had been improved in the mid 19th century by the tenant resulting in 'one of the most compact steadings and best kept holdings in the north of Scotland' with 22-24 cattle fed in covered yards. The farmstead comprises a gabled entry range to the southeast, a barn and granary above to the northwest, byres to the southwest and stables to the northeast, There are lean-to, brick-built cart sheds along the outside wall of the barn. The stable range and the barn are of two storeys. The farmstead is built of coursed rubble with dressed quoins and has slate roofs.
